Update 0.3.0 Change Log

Hello again!

I've made some significant changes to the game since the last update. No memory leaks this time! (as far as I know)
I still haven't been taking good care of tracking the changes I made so here's to hoping my repository commit comments were detailed enough:

  • New Graphics!
    • I decided I didn't want to make another pixel art indie game, so the new tile assets are fully hand draw. There are only 3 new tile assets btw, I'm still designing the new platformer sections. I also plan on redrawing Tonk so he can be line art too, but animating is really hard so that won't be for a while.
  • A Pause Screen!
    • I didn't think pausing would be that important of a feature for a game with such short-lived sessions, but it wasn't hard to implement so why not?
  • Updated Dash!
    • I decided to add dash charging because the dash would often times be either too far or too short. Now you can control the length of your dash. Right now, the dash is split into 2 tiers: a light dash and a heavy dash. The heavy dash takes you much farther but takes more time to perform.
  • Distance Readout!
    • Now you can see how far up the tower you have gone.
  • New Measurement System!
    • Instead of using arbitrary units, I converted everything to use tiles as the unit.
  • New Issues with the Tutorial Screen!
    • Instead of being too small, now you are way too big.
  • Hit Stop!
    • I thought that the dash collisions felt rather flat. I implemented hit stop so they feel somewhat weightier. I'm still working on it though.

Again, I haven't kept good track of the changes I've made so you might notice some changes I didn't mention. Regardless, thanks for reading! Stay tuned for more updates in the future.
